Privacy Policy

Overview
RightsKit ("we", "us", "our") provides data tools and services for rightsholders. This policy covers both our website atrightskit.com and our Composition Search tool atsearch.rightskit.com. It explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run these services and respond to enquiries.
Information we collect
- Contact enquiries. When you use our contact form, we collect the email address and message you provide, so we can respond to you.
- Composition Search queries. The ISRC you enter is sent to our server to run the lookup. An ISRC is a public recording identifier, not personal information, and it is not linked to you.
- Match feedback. If you mark a Composition Search result as a good or bad match, we store your verdict along with the registration and confidence shown, plus a random anonymous identifier generated in your browser (see Local storage below) so the same result is not counted twice. No name, email or account is involved.
- Technical logs. Our infrastructure providers automatically process limited technical data such as IP address and request metadata to deliver and secure the services. On Composition Search, your IP address is also processed transiently to rate-limit and protect the tool from abuse.
- Cover art. On Composition Search, album art is fetched from Deezer's public API using the ISRC. That request is made by our server, not your browser.
We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not build marketing profiles.
Cookies and local storage
Neither service sets tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly-necessary cookies on the website (for example, to mitigate bots); these are required for the site to function and do not track you across other sites. Because we use no non-essential cookies, no cookie-consent banner is shown.
Composition Search stores a single random identifier (cf_voter) in your browser's local storage when you submit feedback, to prevent duplicate votes. It contains no personal information and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and discuss our services.
- To run Composition Search lookups and improve match quality.
- To operate, secure and maintain the website and the tool.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Legal basis (UK / EU)
Where UK GDPR / EU GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving our services, and on your consent where you voluntarily submit your details through the contact form.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run our services and handle enquiries — for example Cloudflare for website hosting and security, Hetzner (in Germany) for hosting the Composition Search tool and its database, and an email/forms provider to receive contact messages. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements. Composition Search draws on public data from The MLC (its bulk data feed) and Deezer (cover art); that data remains the property of its respective owners and no affiliation or endorsement is implied.
Where your data is processed
The website is delivered through Cloudflare's global network. The Composition Search tool and its database are hosted on servers in the European Union (Germany). Where data is processed outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards for any such transfer.
Data retention
We keep enquiry emails and messages only as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of our correspondence, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Composition Search feedback is retained in anonymous form to monitor and improve match quality; server logs are kept only briefly.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to processing or request portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at contact@rightskit.com. Because Composition Search feedback is not tied to your identity, we may be unable to link specific records to you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
